Turkey, having one of the world's most efficient climate zones and being the part of the most important country for viticulture, also is the fifth largest grape-growing country in the world. Turkey has a very old and deep-rooted culture of viticulture, very close to birthplace of viniculture and wine art and over the years it has become an important grape producer. It is estimated that 1.200 grape varieties are grown in Turkey however only 34 of them are used for wine production. In Anatolian soil, many indigenous grape varieties, as well as international grapes varieties are also grown. Our aim is to be a bridge between Turkish producers and international buyers while being a business partner for the future.
Emir is a native white grape mostly planted in the central part of Anatolia as Nevşehir, Kırşehir, Kayseri and Niğde regions. Emir is grown in volcanic soil in the micro-climate of the region and makes yellow pale color wines with high acidity and green reflections on the nose. It has green apple, lemon aromas and makes crisp, refreshing wines. Emir is also used to make sparkling wines as well. Wines are light, medium bodied, light yellow color with high acidity and delicate. Emir doesn't match with oak barrel and generally should be consumed in 1 – 2 years. It is one of Turkey’s most important white wine grape produces light, delicate wines which are best drunk young.
Narince is a white wine grape grown in Turkey and it is indigenous to the northeastern region of Tokat province at mid-southern Anatolia in Turkey. Narince makes usually dry, straw yellow-green color wines with floral notes, sophisticated fruit flavour of yellow fruits of lime, orange, white pineapple, plum, green apple and citrus aromas on the nose. Wines from Narince are medium to full bodied, balanced with good acidity. In cool places, the wines from Narince will have high acidity. It is usually treated with oak and when made well, is elegant and has good aging potential. Ripening period is the same as Merlot. Harvest is around mid September. When fully ripe, it has striking amber color.
Sultaniye grape takes its name from the history. It is a fact that it was the favorite grape of the Ottoman Sultans and it was sent to the palace in Istanbul every year. Sultaniye is a white grape with low acidity. It is grown around Manisa and near Denizli (Pamukkale region )Sultaniye grapes are grown on very fertile sandy soil in warm region with the Mediterranean Climate.Sultaniye wines are dry and semi-dry, light-bodied wines produced in Turkey. Wine produced from Sultaniye grapes have the potential to be delicious, fruity revealing aromas like apricot, peach, bananas, pineapples.
Öküzgözü is a dark ruby coloured variety native to Turkey where it benefits from the continental climate it is mostly grown in the provinces of Elazığ. The various sources of the Euphrates River in this region soften the normally harsh climate of Eastern Turkey.It has characteristics that have brought about comparisons with Pinot Noir, and like that variety has the ability to faithfully reflect the environments from where it is grown. It has medium tannins, high acidity, good balance, richness and elegance. It also reveals cherry, sour cherry, black mulberry and raspberry aromas. Its name is said to refer to the resemblance of the large, fleshy berries to a bull’s eye. Both young and ageable wines can be produced from Öküzgözü and it is suitable for oak maturation.
Boğazkere is a dark ruby coloured grape variety and a Turkish wine indigenous to Diyarbakır Province near the Tigris river in the southeastern region of Turkey. Boğazkere means throat scraper due to its harsh challenging tannic nature and it is similar to the Tannat variety of France. Its vines can perform well in altitudes especially in the interiors of Turkey. This is because the variety is also very resistant to drought. It has thick grape skins along with an acidity level that is moderate. Its entire aromatic profile is very complex since it includes various dark fruits from the forest. The wine of this grape has a strong body, very enjoyable long finish, dark red color and rich strong aromas of dried red fruits and spices and it is suitable for aging in oak barrels.
Kalecik Karasi is a red grape variety which can be mainly found in the Kalecik province of Turkey. Kalecik Karası grows successfully near the Red River and is used to make some of Turkey's best red wines.The grapes are famous for their unique taste, aroma and flavor. Such wines are characterized by a light red color laced with purple undertones with soft tannins. It owns a unique bouquet of red fruits such as raspberry, cherry, and strawberry. This fruity scent is laced with undertones of vanilla and cocoa as well. Aging in oak barrels produce marvelous results for this grape variety, but it can also produce excellent young wines as well.
Çal Karası is one of the wine grape variety grown in Denizli-Çal region of Aegean. Çal Karası used mostly in the production of rose wines and it is a light-colored, fleshy, juicy red wine grape. Once they have matured, their acidity is very good. The specific aromas of the wine produced from Çal Karası are strawberry, raspberry and rose. The wine is well balanced, fruity with medium to high acidity.
This unique grape’s origin belongs to the Burgundy region of France. Chardonnay is able to adapt to different climatic conditions and can reflect the characteristics of the soil where it was grown consequently it’s the most popular wine grapes in the world. However, carrying fruit aromas depend according to the region where they are grown. It is a amber coloured, juicy, fleshy, thin-skinned, mild flavored, and early maturing grape variety. It gives mineral-structured and full-bodied white wines that has apple, peach, lemon flavors and smells like sour apples.
Sauvignon Blanc is a noble grape variety belongs to the Loire region of France. In Turkey, commonly grown in the Marmara and Aegean region and its grains are small and medium-sized, sweet and aromatic. Wine contains mostly fruit and herbal aromas. Cold climate is necessary in order to develop herbal aromas but still produced well in a temperate climate. Quite aromatic, high acidity and medium-bodied wines can be produced. It is also crisp, elegant and fresh could be a favorable description of Sauvignon blanc.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the world's most famous and most planted red wine grape. Origin is the Bordeaux region of France. In Turkey, commonly grown in the Thrace and Aegean region. Bunch of small or medium-sized, cylindrical, small round grapes, purple-black, hard, thick rind and sour taste.Wines have dark-colored, high tannin, acidity with strong aromas. Typically contains black fruit and floral notes and suitable for aging.
Syrah also known as Shiraz is a dark-skinned grape variety grown throughout the world and used primarily to produce red wine. It is grown in the Aegean region of Turkey and one of the most valuable black grape. Bunches are medium sized and stylish, small, fleshy and juicy. Syrah gives dark-colored, strong fruity red wines and suitable for aging. The wine has strong tannins but has a low acidity and balanced. Pepper and spice flavors apparent with its own unique character.
Merlot is a red grape variety with strong historic ties to Bordeaux and the southwest of France. Bunches and grains are small, round and dark red colored. According to the soil and climate different flavors, tannin and acidity may indicate. Merlot produced in Anatolia are mostly with black fruit aromas and the wines are light or dark ruby red color and has soft character. Generally, shows black fruit characteristics and also considered to be smooth and very easy to drink.
